Lake Management Planning in the City of Kawartha Lakes
Partners
Kawartha Conservation’s Project Management Team develops and implements the plan with guidance and support from organizations and individuals who have an interest in lake management planning in the City of Kawartha Lakes. These representatives are involved in the plan through participation on the following:
Executive Liaison Group
- Provides high level guidance and support to the planning process
- Helps build or access partnerships to support plan development and implementation
- Provides endorsement and support for the final proposed plan
- Assists in communicating the findings of the plan and key implementation strategies
This group includes the following members:
- Two members of City of Kawartha Lakes Council
- City of Kawartha Lakes Mayor
- The Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP)
- The Superintendent of the Trent-Severn Waterway
- The District Manager of the Peterborough District of the Ministry of Natural Resources
- The Dean of Fleming College, Lindsay Campus
- The Chair of Kawartha Conservation
Community Advisory Panel
- Provides ongoing direction to the Project Management Team
- Provides regular communication and feedback from the community

- City of Kawartha Lakes
- City of Kawartha Lakes Agricultural Development Advisory Board
- City of Kawartha Lakes Environmental Advisory Committee
- Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Associations
- Gamiing

- Kawartha Conservation
- Kawartha Heritage Conservancy
- Kawartha Lake Stewards Association
- Kawartha Protect Our Water (KPOW)
- Sturgeon Point Association
- Trent-Severn Waterway
- Victoria Stewardship Council
Science and Technical Support Committee
- Establishes the sampling network design and protocol
- Provides oversight, coordination and a high degree of credibility pertaining to the science and research processes
This committee includes scientists from the following:
- Trent University

- Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
- Kawartha Conservation
Project Managment Team
This team is comprised of staff from Kawartha Conservation, which provides the following:
- Project planning and coordination
- Communications – public and partners
- Steering Committees – all organizational and communication aspects
- Budgeting, administration
- Staff expertise, training for volunteers
- Year round sampling
- Laboratory fees
- Analysis / data management
- GIS mapping services
- Equipment and travel
- State of the Watershed Report
- Implement early stewardship efforts
