Take Action

We are all responsible for protecting the health of Lake Scugog.

Find the resources and assistance you need to take action:

Scugog WATER Fund - Assists with a wide range of stewardship projects, covering up to 50 % of the project cost, up to a maximum dollar amount. This year, the focus is on agricultural Best Management Practices.

Shoreline Naturalization– Assists with shoreline naturalization projects by providing free, technical advice and linking you to available grants and incentives.

Scugog Connections – An environmental action centre in downtown Port Perry that provides education and outreach programs which support landowner actions that contribute to the health of the environment and the lake.

A wide range of actions are needed to protect and enhance the lake. Here are some of the other actions we have undertaken:

Port Perry Stormwater Management Plan – We developed stormwater management controls to mitigate the impacts of stormwater runoff on the lake.

Blue Canoe - We visited 1,630 shoreline properties on Lake Scugog in 2008 and 2009, and provided practical environmental information, resources and easy actions to help landowners enhance their properties and improve the health of the lake.

Shoreline Naturalization Demonstration - We created demonstration sites on public lands around Lake Scugog to educate hundreds of students, volunteers and community members in naturalization techniques and improve the health of shorelines in public parks.
