Kawartha Conservation celebrates Fleming Alumni
Fleming College President Dr. Tony Tilly and Chair of the Fleming Alumni Association Lynn Price visited Kawartha Conservation today to take part in a celebration of Fleming alumni, as part of Fleming Alumni Appreciation Week.
Almost a third of the current Kawartha Conservation team has graduated from Fleming College, and are in positions focused on environmental monitoring, Geographical Information Systems, environmental restoration and stewardship, and senior level management. Kawartha Conservation also regularly employs Fleming students in summer contract positions to undertake various kinds of field work throughout the region.
“I’m very proud of our alumni at Kawartha Conservation and their accomplishments,” says Dr. Tilly. “Kawartha Conservation has a vibrant workforce that contributes significantly to the health of our environment and communities. I am also excited about new program partnerships that the College and Kawartha Conservation are currently exploring.”
“It’s no coincidence that we have so many Fleming graduates here,” says Rob Messervey, Kawartha Conservation CAO. “Our practice is to hire the best person for the job, and that person is often a Fleming graduate.”
