Projects & Services
Kawartha Conservation provides environmental management for its watershed municipalities through a wide range of services:
- Environmental Advisory Services are provided on a user fee basis to landowners wishing to undertake alterations to their property. Kawartha Conservation provides this service for its municipalities and comments only from an environmental perspective.
- Watershed Monitoring includes flood forecasting and low water level monitoring, studies of surface and groundwater water quality and quantity, terrestrial studies and more.
- Shoreline Naturalization is a multi faceted program that offers consultation to property owners wishing to naturalize their shorelines. This includes shoreline workshops, public outreach, demonstrations sites and landowner incentive funding.
- Conservation Areas Management includes managing areas of land within our watershed in their natural state for the protection of the environment. These areas are also enjoyed by passive users in a variety of pursuits that include hiking, cycling, birdwatching and more.
- Special Projects are undertaken at the direction of and with the support of watershed municipalities. Currently Kawartha Conservation is working in partnership with the Township of Scugog on the Lake Scugog Environmental Management Plan and the Nonquon River Fisheries Management Plan.
