Landowner Grant Program

Landowner property before naturalization
Landowners living along area lakes and rivers within the Kawartha watershed will be pleased to hear that help is now available to them to naturalize their shorelines.
Kawartha Conservation in partnership with the Durham Land Stewardship Council and the Victoria Land and Water Stewardship Council recently announced a new Shoreline Naturalization Incentive program. Landowners with waterfront property in the Authority’s watershed can apply for assistance with the purchase of shoreline plants and materials involved in naturalizing their shoreline. Successful applicants will have their investment matched dollar for dollar, up to a maximum of $500 per landowner.

Applications are now being accepted at Kawartha Conservation through to the end of the planting season. The program has a small fund, so landowners are encouraged to act quickly. All shoreline materials and labour are to be supplied by Kawartha Conservation and only living materials qualify for the grant. Stone and lumber materials used in shoreline stabilization are not eligible at this time. As well, any required permits must be in place before work can begin.
