- Plant native species along your shoreline to prevent erosion.
- Allow a buffer strip to grow along your shoreline to help stop runoff.
- Stop using artificial fertilizers on your property.

- Mow your grass to 3 inches high or greater, or replace your lawn with native plants.
- Maintain your septic system.
- Leave fallen trees and branches in the shallows of the water.
- Preserve your property’s mature trees.
- Keep oil and gas away from your shoreline.
