Shoreline Naturalization
The management of our shoreline properties is vital to the ongoing health and vitality of our lakes and the vast economic impact they have on our communities.
The Shoreline Naturalization Program is designed to encourage private and public land stewardship of our natural resources and provide educational opportunities across the watershed.
The program has four components: shoreline consultations; private landowner implementation, demonstrations sites; and community workshops, conferences, and speaking engagements.
Each component works to further the goals of shoreline naturalization in a different way:
- Shoreline consultations provide landowners with information specific to their property and an action plan.
- Private Landowner Implementation includes financial assistance and labour help with implementing your shoreline naturalization project.
- Demonstrations sites allow shoreline restoration work on municipal properties and the opportunity to train others in the best naturalization practices. These projects also allow us to test different techniques and products before recommending them.
- Workshops, conferences and speaking engagements provide opportunities to talk about the benefits of shoreline naturalization and how you can get involved.
