About the Water Fund
The Water Fund is an annual grant program that helps landowners access funding, knowledge, and technical support for environmental projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes and Durham Region. If your project has the potential to positively impact water quality or ecosystem health, it may be eligible for funding.
Since 2008, $485,000+ has been awarded to landowner projects in the Kawartha Lakes and Township of Scugog through the Water Fund.

Testimonials
"Following a fire that destroyed a significant portion of our property in 2021, we made a commitment to 'rewilding' the area. After being referred by a friend to contact Kawartha Conservation, I was assisted by staff in a variety of ways – a site visit to review the area, project planning, and assistance in preparing a grant application. Having received a positive response, we planted 80 new saplings in late spring, 2022. Danielle’s help and expertise made it possible to begin our restoration project." - S.W (2022)
"After moving to a rural property in the Kawartha Lakes in 2020, I began having issues with high levels of salt in my drinking water. I was using a drilled well, but noticed a second, older well on my property that had been improperly decommissioned and may have been impacting the water quality. After contacting Kawartha Conservation, I was provided with resources and information for applying to the Water Fund, and through the program, I was able to properly decommission the old well, making the area around it safer and improving the quality of my drinking water." - S.T (2021)
