Explore Nature Challenge
The 2nd Annual Explore Nature Challenge is officially opened.
The Kawartha Conservation Foundation is encouraging people to walk, run, skip, bike or hike the trails at any or all of our conservation areas including Ken Reid Conservation Area, Windy Ridge Conservation Area, Pigeon River Headwaters Conservation Area and Durham East Cross Forest Conservation Area as part of the 2nd Annual Explore Nature Challenge beginning July 29.
The Explore Nature Challenge is a Foundation-led fundraising initiative to support important projects at Ken Reid Conservation Area and beyond.
The Kawartha Conservation Foundation is excited to launch the 2nd Annual Explore Nature Challenge across all of Kawartha Conservation’s conservation area properties, including Ken Reid Conservation Area, Windy Ridge Conservation Area, Fleetwood Creek Natural Area, Pigeon River Headwaters Conservation Area and Durham East Cross Forest Conservation Area. The Explore Nature Challenge is a virtual fitness challenge launching Friday, July 29 where participants can walk run, bike or hike the different trails completely at their own pace.
Whether you decide to complete the challenge all at once, or break it up into varying times and distances, the goal of this challenge is to motivate people to get out, explore and be active.
Best of all, participants who complete the challenge will have trees planted on their behalf at one of Kawartha Conservation’s properties and receive a commemorative medal.
Proceeds from the Explore Nature Challenge help the Foundation support projects at Kawartha Conservation including the proposed new accessible playground structure at Ken Reid Conservation Area and the Turtle Nesting Box project.
The cost of the event is:
- $20 for an individual
- $35 for a couple
- $40 for a family
