"Fall Mixed Up" Story Walk experience begins at Ken Reid Conservation Area
November 1, 2021 – “Fall fills my senses with scenes to remember. Apples turn orange, pumpkins turn red, leaves float up into blue skies overhead,” reads a passage from “Fall Mixed Up”, the newest story available along the Story Walk at Ken Reid Conservation Area.
Beginning today and for the month of November, visitors to Ken Reid Conservation Area can read the interesting and quirky tale “Fall Mixed Up”, where the characteristics of fall, Thanksgiving, and Halloween are blended and the reality that we know is turned upside down.
Written by author Bob Raczka, “Fall Mixed Up” is dedicated to “every boy and girl whose favourite season is fall”, using an unconventional approach to teach readers about the characteristics of autumn while testing their knowledge and making for fun along the way.
“This month’s Story Walk experience at Ken Reid Conservation Area wouldn’t be possible without the awesome work of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library, who provide us with a new story each month,” says Kristie Virgoe, Director, Stewardship and Conservation Lands.
“The addition of ‘Fall Mixed Up’ is fantastic because it helps us facilitate education for young readers, while also providing the opportunity for families and children to spend time together surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of autumn,” continued Virgoe. “Combining elements of learning, spending time with those we care about, and being outside in a peaceful environment is really what the Story Walk is all about.”
“Fall Mixed Up” is the 10th story to be featured on the Story Walk since its introduction earlier this year, which will be continually updated throughout the winter months at Ken Reid Conservation Area.
Visitors can park on site for $4 a day, just steps from the beginning of the Story Walk located on the Pond Trail.
