Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. Logo May 11, 2020 – Kawartha Conservation and Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. are kicking off the May long weekend with the launch of the Kawartha Summer Ale, the unofficial beer of summer 2020 in the Kawarthas.

Through the generosity of Fenelon Falls Brewing Co., proceeds from every can and bottle sold (while supplies last) will be donated to Kawartha Conservation to support projects and initiatives that directly impact the health of area lakes and rivers.

“This is a wonderful initiative and a tremendous partnership,” said Kawartha Conservation Board Chair Ted Smith. “These partnerships help foster greater relationships throughout our watershed and help support vital projects that will protect the environment for current and future generations.”

Announced May 1, the partnership between Kawartha Conservation and Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. was the culmination of discussions with the company who were committed to protecting the environment and using their business as a catalyst for positive change.

“There is so much that draws you to this area; the people, the business community, being right at the Lock 34 between Sturgeon and Cameron Lakes, everything about this area welcomes you and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate our first summer than by partnering with Kawartha Conservation to support our environment and our lakes,” said Mathew Renda, the general manager of the company.

Kawartha Summer Ale was developed by head brewer Russell Gibson to be medium-bodied with a light mouthfeel and notes of citrus fruit.

“Designed to accompany summer afternoons as they unwind into evenings – fresh, balanced and sessionable,” the label reads.

Kawartha Lakes Ward 2 Councillor and Kawartha Conservation Board member, Kathleen Seymour Fagan said the partnership between Kawartha Conservation and Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. is a win-win.

“This partnership is a great example of being able to support local businesses while supporting our communities, our residents and our environment,” said Coun. Seymour-Fagan. “Now more than ever we need to find new ways of supporting one another and I think this is a great example of the business community supporting conservation efforts and Kawartha Conservation supporting local business.”

Fenelon Falls Brewing’s philosophy is to keep their ingredients simple and their processes to a minimum to make beer that allows the flavours and aromas to shine through. All of their beer is brewed with no additives and no preservatives.

“Our philosophy on brewing is similar to our philosophy on the environment,” explained Mathew Renda. “We want to create a great product for our customers while doing our part to help support the environment and our local communities.

“We see this partnership with Kawartha Conservation as a natural fit that helps support both of our goals and visions,” Mr. Renda added.

Kawartha Conservation CAO Mark Majchrowski agrees.

“Our Vision is for a sustainable watershed with clean and abundant water and natural resources assured for future generations,” explained Mr. Majchrowski. “This partnership with the Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. team will help to support and solidify that vision by supporting the very lakes and rivers we all rely upon.

“We are excited to work with the great team at Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. and look forward to the positive and long-lasting impact this initiative will have for our communities, our residents and our local waterways,” Mr. Majchrowski added.

Kawartha Summer Ale will officially launch on Thursday, May 14 and is available for pre-order at www.fenelonfallsbrewing.com in limited release 500-mL bottles.

“We welcome everyone to visit Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. online and be the first to order the new Kawartha Summer Ale and join us in a toast to the first long weekend of summer,” said Mr. Renda.
