MAY 17, 2022 – The public is invited to attend the Lake Dalrymple Management Plan Open House being held on Thursday, May 26 from 7 – 8:30pm and Saturday, May 28 from 10 – 11:30am at the Carden Recreation Centre. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with Kawartha Conservation staff, provide input, learn about key monitoring findings, and hear about next steps for the Lake Dalrymple Management Plan.

In 2021, Kawartha Conservation’s Integrated Watershed Management (IWM) team focused on gathering water quality data and connecting with community members and lake residents to better understand the current condition of Lake Dalrymple. As the project continues in 2022, IWM staff are looking to connect with more members of the Lake Dalrymple community and use their feedback to help guide future actions.

“Connecting with the community is one of the most important pieces of this project and is our top focus for 2022,” explained Aquatic Biologist Brett Tregunno. “There’s nobody that knows Lake Dalrymple better than those who live, work and vacation in the area, and it is their input that is so valuable for guiding the Lake Dalrymple Management Plan.”

“This open house is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to get together and hear about the work Kawartha Conservation staff have been doing, and to provide their feedback and insights with regard to some of the issues they see impacting the quality of Lake Dalrymple today and into the future.”

The four-year (2021-2024) Lake Dalrymple Management Plan focuses on balancing-science based findings with community feedback to identify and address lake health issues while working to develop a plan that will ultimately improve and protect the quality and biodiversity of Lake Dalrymple.

“No matter what your connection is to Lake Dalrymple, we want to hear your input,” explained Tregunno. “Join us at the Carden Recreation Centre on Thursday, May 26 or Saturday, May 28 to help us ensure a healthy and resilient Lake Dalrymple for generations to come.”

To learn more about the Lake Dalrymple Management plan, visit the Lake Dalrymple page on the Kawartha Conservation website at kawarthaconservation.com/LakeDalrymple.

If you have any further questions regarding the Lake Dalrymple Management plan or upcoming open houses, contact Brett Tregunno by email at btregunno@kawarthaconservation.com or by phone at 705-328-2271 ext. 222.
