'Sneezy the Snowman' returns to the Story Walk Trail at Ken Reid CA
JANUARY 6, 2023 – Available now and for the entire month of January, visitors to Ken Reid Conservation Area can read ‘Sneezy the Snowman’ as the popular children’s tale makes its second appearance along the Story Walk Trail.
‘Sneezy the Snowman’ explores the story of a snowman that comes to life, but isn’t very good at dealing with the cold winds, falling snow, and icy conditions that come with winter. As Sneezy attempts to warm up from the cold, he begins to melt into a puddle, relying on a group of three friends to build him back up again.
“It’s cold out here, that’s for sure. I am freezing every minute. I’ll find a hot tub and sit right in it,” said Sneezy the Snowman. “And then – right there – believe it or not… he melted from sitting in water too hot!”
Loved by many, ‘Sneezy the Snowman’ is one of over 20 stories that has been featured along the Story Walk Trail since it was created in December 2020 through a partnership with the Kawartha Lakes Public Library. As part of the initiative, a new story is featured along the trail each month, providing children and families the opportunity to spend time together in the great outdoors while connecting education, exploration, and play.
“No matter if ‘Sneezy the Snowman’ is one of your favourites or you're excited to read it for the first time, there’s no better place to experience it than along the trails of Ken Reid Conservation Area,” said Calli Burke, Conservation Lands Technician. “Taking a walk along the Story Walk Trail is a fantastic way to inspire your little ones to develop a love of nature, a love of reading, and a desire to learn.”
The Story Walk is located along the Pond Loop Trail at Ken Reid Conservation Area, adjacent to the main parking lot and off-leash dog park. Visitors can park at Ken Reid Conservation Area for $4 per day.
