FEBRUARY 8, 2022 – Are you looking for an opportunity to immerse yourself in the great outdoors, experience amazing views or explore the forest at night? If so, then look no further. In partnership with Kawartha Conservation, Wild Rock Outfitters is hosting a Snowshoe Hike on February 12 and a Night Hike on February 19 at Windy Ridge Conservation Area and Ken Reid Conservation Area, respectively.

The Snowshoe Hike at Windy Ridge Conservation Area is being held from 10am – 11:30am on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Participants will have the opportunity to strap on a pair of snowshoes and explore 1.8km of trails, taking in panoramic views and sipping on hot chocolate. Both the snowshoes and hot chocolate will be provided, but participants must bring their own mug or thermos.

The Night Hike at Ken Reid Conservation Area will take place on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Guided by Wild Rock Outfitters staff, participants will have the opportunity to snowshoe through cedar forests, over creeks and nearby wetlands, and explore the conservation area like never before, all while accompanied by shining stars and forest wildlife.

Each event requires participants to be aged 18 or older and costs $20 to register. Any materials provided by Wild Rock Outfitters, such as snowshoes or hot chocolate, is included in the price of the event.

These events come as part of a newly established partnership between Kawartha Conservation and Wild Rock Outfitters, which focuses on combining environmental stewardship and outdoor recreation in a way that benefits the community.

“This collaboration between Wild Rock Outfitters and Kawartha Conservation is fantastic because it captures the relationship between people and the environment,” said Sarah Robbins from Wild Rock Outfitters. “By participating in these events, you are supporting conservation efforts and local business while having fun and exploring the world around you.”

To learn more about participation requirements, event details, and to register, visit the Snowshoe Hike event page and Night Hike event page or contact Sarah Robbins by email at sarah@wildrock.net or by phone at 705-745-9133.
