Back to SearchJANUARY 31, 2022 – Beginning now and for the entire month of February, visitors to Ken Reid Conservation Area can read ‘Sneezy the Snowman’, the newly featured story along the Story Walk Trail.
Written by Maureen Wright, ‘Sneezy the Snowman’ is a tale about cold winter weather, a snowman that is sensitive to the temperature, and friendship. Each time Sneezy tries to warm up from the cold, he begins to melt into a puddle, relying on his friends to build him back again.
“They rebuilt Sneezy as snowflakes flew. A cold winter wind swirled and blew. The snowman sneezed a gigantic ACHOO!”
‘Sneezy the Snowman’ is one of many stories that have been featured along the Story Walk Trail at Ken Reid Conservation Area throughout the past year, provided by the Kawartha Lakes Public Library. The Kawartha Lakes Public Library and Kawartha Conservation use the Story Walk Trail to turn the pages of popular children’s stories into an immersive outdoor reading and learning experience to be shared with family and friends.
“This partnership with Kawartha Lakes Public Library has been fantastic for our community and continues to attract more and more families to the conservation area each month,” said Director of Stewardship and Conservation Lands, Kristie Virgoe. “By visiting the Story Walk, readers can experience new stories and characters each month while letting their imaginations run wild.”
The Story Walk Trail is located right next to the main parking lot and is adjacent to the off-leash dog park. Visitors can park at Ken Reid Conservation Area for $4 per day. As snow continues to fall at our conservation areas, remember to bring warm winter clothing to ensure a comfortable experience as you explore the trails.
