Christmas at Ken Reid Returns December 6 with Festive Family Fun and Free Admission

LINDSAY, ON – The magic of the holiday season returns to Ken Reid Conservation Area on Saturday, December 6 for Christmas at Ken Reid, a one-day outdoor celebration featuring festive activities, live entertainment, and family-friendly fun surrounded by nature. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free.

Each year, Christmas at Ken Reid welcomes hundreds of visitors to experience the holidays in a relaxed, outdoor setting. The event brings together local businesses, community partners, and families from across the region to enjoy a day filled with music, laughter, and seasonal cheer.

Highlights for this year include horse and wagon rides from Hyde Park Farms, a pony petting zoo courtesy of Walkabout Farm Therapeutic Riding Association, live music by Gerald Van Halteren and Keith Kirkpatrick, a holiday vendor market, birds of prey, Grinch-themed story walks along the trails, Big Hogs BBQ, Brewed Awakening and Beavertails, and Santa and Mrs. Claus. Guests can also enjoy wood-carving demonstrations, balloon animals, and a quiet space provided by Autism Resources Kawartha (ARK). The City of Kawartha Lakes Library will host story time and showcase its Library of Things collection.

“Christmas at Ken Reid has become a wonderful community tradition,” said Carolyn Snider, Community Engagement Technician with Kawartha Conservation. “It’s a chance for families, couples, and friends to enjoy the holiday season in a natural setting. There’s something for everyone, and it’s a day that truly captures the spirit of community.”

Parking and Transit Options

Due to the popularity of the event, on-site parking is limited and available by advance purchase only through Kawartha Conservation’s website. Parking passes are $20 per vehicle and can be purchased by visiting the Christmas at Ken Reid event page in the Event calendar.

To make the event more accessible, free buses will run throughout the day from multiple locations, including the rear parking lot at Canadian Tire, IE Weldon Secondary School, and Fleming College. Full route details and schedules are available at www.kawarthaconservation.com/festivals.

Supporting Free Community Events

While Christmas at Ken Reid is free to attend, donations to Kawartha Conservation are encouraged to help maintain and expand community programs and events throughout the year.

“When people donate, they’re supporting more than a single event,” said Snider. “They’re helping us create lasting experiences that bring people together and connect them with nature. That’s something we’re proud to continue each year.”

Christmas at Ken Reid offers an opportunity to enjoy the holiday season in its purest form - outdoors, surrounded by community, and grounded in the simple joys of the season.

Once again, staff and volunteers will be receiving donations of non-perishable food items for the Kawartha Lakes Food Source. Visitors are encouraged to drop off their donations at the Administration Building, and help those less fortunate throughout our community.
