Illuminated Forest Returns December 12–28 at Ken Reid Conservation Area

LINDSAY, ON – The Illuminated Forest returns to Ken Reid Conservation Area this winter, lighting up the trails at the front of the park from Friday, December 12 through Sunday, December 28. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk through the forest as it glows with thousands of soft, white lights, creating a calm and inviting outdoor experience for all ages.

Each evening, the trails will offer a quiet space to slow down, connect with nature, and take in the beauty of the season.

“The Illuminated Forest has become a special way for people to enjoy winter evenings outdoors,” said Carolyn Snider, Community Engagement Technician. “It’s simple, relaxing, and something you can enjoy with family or friends. We’re pleased to bring it back again this year.”

Free Transit Offered December 12–13 and 19–20

To make it easier for everyone to take part, Kawartha Conservation and the City of Kawartha Lakes are partnering to offer free public transit from Lindsay to Ken Reid Conservation Area for four special nights on:

  • Friday and Saturday, December 12 and 13
  • Friday and Saturday, December 19 and 20

Riders using the City’s public transit can attend the event for free. The regular $4 per vehicle parking fee applies to visitors who choose to drive.

Transit Schedule - Lindsay (Canadian Tire Rear Parking Lot) to Ken Reid Conservation Area

Departing Canadian Tire (Rear Parking Lot):

  • 4:30 p.m.
  • 5:30 p.m.
  • 6:30 p.m.
  • 7:30 p.m.

Departing Ken Reid:

  • 5:00 p.m.
  • 6:00 p.m.
    7:00 p.m.
  • 8:30 p.m. (final departure)
  • Arrives back at Canadian Tire at approximately 9:00 p.m.

Location and Parking

The Illuminated Forest will take place at the front of Ken Reid Conservation Area, with parking available in both the main dog park lot and the Administration Building lot as needed.

  • Admission: Free
  • Parking: $4 per vehicle, or free for transit riders

“The Illuminated Forest is a simple idea that brings people together,” added Snider. “It’s about stepping outside, enjoying the lights, and taking a little time to appreciate the season.”
