Kawartha Conservation Continues 100 Percent Permit Review and Approval Performance in November
KAWARTHA LAKES, ONTARIO – Kawartha Conservation continued its record of exceptional permitting performance in November, achieving 100 percent compliance with both Conservation Ontario Client Service Standards and provincially legislated timelines under O. Reg. 41/24.
During the month, Kawartha Conservation staff issued 23 permits and completed nine revisions to existing permits related to site plan changes and permit extensions. All permit applications were reviewed and issued within required timelines, meeting or exceeding service standards in every category.
“Our team continues to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, consistency, and responsiveness,” said Kristie McCabe, Interim Director, Planning and Development Services. “Meeting 100 percent of review and issuance timelines month after month reflects not only strong technical expertise, but a genuine commitment to providing reliable and timely service to our municipal partners, builders, developers, and property owners.”
Most permit applications processed in November fell within the minor permit category, which carries a target of 14 days for review of a complete application and 21 days for permit issuance. Kawartha Conservation met these benchmarks in every case, while also maintaining full compliance with provincial legislative requirements that allow up to 21 days for application review and up to 90 days for permit decisions.
This sustained performance builds on similar results reported earlier in the fall and underscores Kawartha Conservation’s ability to deliver efficient, high quality permitting services while protecting people, property, and watershed health.
Kawartha Conservation’s permitting program supports safe development and informed land use decisions across the watershed, ensuring regulatory certainty while maintaining strong environmental safeguards.
