Kawartha Conservation launches new website

April 7, 2020 – Kawartha Conservation is launching a new streamlined, accessible and responsive website to help provide visitors with the information they want and need quickly and efficiently.

“This project has involved all of our staff and resulted in more than six months of re-writing, simplifying and reviewing the information people want and need,” said Kawartha Conservation CAO Mark Majchrowski. “Our goal was to make it easy for people to find key information whether they are on a desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone.”

The new website contains a host of updates including an easy to navigate menu, search function, submission of online permit applications, and email notifications by page or topic area. Our community members, for example, can subscribe to flood and low water messages, children’s activities, events in our conservation areas, information specific for the agricultural community, and more.

“The Kawartha watershed spans a large geographic area,” explained Mr. Majchrowski. “We wanted to create a platform that allows the public to interact with our staff from the comfort of their own home. Through our new online permitting section, we can now save people the time and effort needed to visit our office in person.”

The new website also meets, and exceeds, AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) requirements to provide even greater support for the entire watershed community.

While providing easier access and improved search functionality, the www.kawarthaconservation.com also offers multilingual support.

The new website was made possible thanks to the support of both the Kawartha Conservation Board of Directors, our member municipalities and the Kawartha Lakes Community Futures Development Corporation.

“I am proud of the work our staff have done and I am excited for our watershed community to have this new and improved tool to allow us to serve the public better,” said Mr. Majchrowski. “We can’t thank the Kawartha Lakes CFDC, our Board of Directors and our partner municipalities enough for their ongoing support of this initiative.”

Visitors to the new website will see a Feedback option at the bottom of each page to provide their thoughts on the things they like as well as things they would like to see added in the future.

“Our new website is a tool to assist residents, business owners and visitors find the what they are looking for,” Mr. Majchrowski said. “This is your website and we’d love to know how we can help provide the information you are looking for and service the needs of our community.”
