What felt tentative in March begins to settle into something more certain - longer, warmer days, the return of birdsong in the morning, and the first signs of green pushing up through the landscape. The season is no longer just approaching, it is arriving.

Kawartha Conservation acknowledges the Province of Ontario’s decision to consolidate 36 Conservation Authorities into nine regional entities under the newly formed Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency. Under this model, Kawartha Conservation will become part of the Eastern Lake Ontario Conservation Authority, a region that includes seven conservation authorities stretching from Kawartha Lakes to Brockville.

Based on current watershed conditions, recent rainfall, ongoing snowmelt, and additional precipitation forecast over the next two days, Kawartha Conservation is issuing a Flood Watch for the Kawartha watershed through to 12:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2026. The Ministry of Natural Resources - Surface Water Monitoring Centre has also issued a Provincial Flood Watch for Southern Ontario, noting elevated water levels, saturated ground conditions, and continued runoff across the region.
