Kawartha Conservation’s 2026 Spring Native Plant Sale, launched April 7, and offers a practical way for residents to turn that trend around, protecting what matters while creating healthier, more resilient spaces at home.

Based on updated information from Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Ministry of Natural Resources - Surface Water Monitoring Centre, Kawartha Conservation is issuing a Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook through to noon on Tuesday. April 7, 2026.

April brings a noticeable shift across the watershed. What felt tentative in March begins to settle into something more certain - longer, warmer days, the return of birdsong in the morning, and the first signs of green pushing up through the landscape. The season is no longer just approaching, it is arriving.

Kawartha Conservation acknowledges the Province of Ontario’s decision to consolidate 36 Conservation Authorities into nine regional entities under the newly formed Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency. Under this model, Kawartha Conservation will become part of the Eastern Lake Ontario Conservation Authority, a region that includes seven conservation authorities stretching from Kawartha Lakes to Brockville.

Based on current watershed conditions and the most recent weather forecast, Kawartha Conservation is downgrading the Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook to a Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety for the Kawartha watershed through to 12:00 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
