FEBRUARY 17, 2023 – The 2023 Tree Seedling Sale is well underway, currently offering a wide selection of low-cost tree and shrub seedlings to landowners in the Kawartha Conservation watershed, including portions of the Kawartha Lakes, Trent Lakes, Brock and Scugog Townships, Clarington, and Cavan-Monaghan.

With seedling bundles selling quickly and certain species beginning to sell out, landowners are encouraged to complete their order as soon as possible before the March 17 deadline, while supplies last.

“With spring right around the corner, there’s never been a better time to order seedlings and begin planning your outdoor projects for 2023,” said Colleen Cathcart, Kawartha Conservation’s Forestry and Landowner Technician. “Although stock is beginning to sell out, landowners can still choose from a variety of deciduous, evergreen, and shrub species to create shade and habitat, strengthen streambanks, increase property value, and more.”

Remaining species available through the sale include silver maple, swamp white oak, tamarack, highbush cranberry, and more than a dozen others.

Those interested in purchasing tree seedlings must complete their order before the closing date of March 17, 2023, at 4pm, while supplies last. Once your order has been placed, you will receive confirmation to pay for your order online. Once payment has been received, your order will be processed and you will be contacted to schedule a pickup time on either Friday, April 28 or Saturday, April 29, 2023.

The 2023 order form, as well as detailed information on pricing and conditions, is available at www.kawarthaconservation.com/TreeSales.

“By purchasing seedlings through our sale, you’re helping to create 22 acres of new forest cover within our watershed this year,” said Cathcart. “With over 13,500 seedlings sold so far, we are well on our way to reaching our goal and making a positive impact in our region that will be felt for generations.”

For more information on the tree seedling sale, planting or species information, contact Colleen Cathcart by email or by phone at 705-328-2271 ext. 249.
